Below is an outline of the general information that members need to participate in the club activities. The full club rules and bylaws are published in the member's area. If you require any further information or clarification on any of the points below, please speak to any Committee Member who will be happy to help.
Priority is given to doubles during club time. Singles is only permitted
when courts are vacant and no players are waiting to play doubles.
Balls
The club provides tennis balls free of charge to members. These are renewed at least weekly. During club sessions balls should be left on court for the next set otherwise they should be returned to the clubhouse.
Floodlights
Floodlighting is provided free of charge. The switches are located just inside the club house door. Members are asked to use this facility wisely and only turn on lights for courts that are actually in use. The lights turn off automatically at 10pm, but when it is clear that no further play will take place on a court, the lights should be turned off manually. Note that once switched off, a set of floodlights have to cool down for around 10 minutes before they can be switched on again.
Dress
Only proper tennis shoes with non-marking, non-ribbed soles are permitted. General trainers and running shoes are not suitable as they can damage the court surface. Dress should be recognised tennis attire and preferably predominantly white.
Guests
Members may introduce guests to play at the club. The guest fee is £5 per session and is billed to the member at half yearly intervals. The guest's name should be entered into the visitors' book before going on court. A guest may only be invited to play 6 times within a membership year.
Court bookings
Courts can only be booked for the following purposes:Surrey League matches. These should be booked through the match secretary who will log the booking on the club calendar. These are normally organised for Sunday morning, but can also occur in the evening.Friendly inter-club matches. These are usually on summer evenings.Club tournaments. Court 3 is bookable throughout the duration of the summer tournament. American tournaments typically reserve all courts. These are advertised in the club calendar and in the clubhouse.
